Coimbatore: The District Collector, K Rajamani called for applications from girls between 5 to 18 years of age to contest for the 'Girl Child Achievement Award' to be presented by the State Government.
Coimbatore: The District Collector, K Rajamani called for applications from girls between 5 to 18 years of age to contest for the 'Girl Child Achievement Award' to be presented by the State Government.
Every year, January 24 is observed as the National Girl Child Day to highlight the importance of the welfare of girl children in the country. Thus, to mark the day, the State Government lauds girl achievers in the State by awarding them with the Girl Child Achievement Award that carries Rs.1,00,000 and a certificate.
The criteria for applying are that the age limit of the applicant should be between 5 to 18 years of age as on Dec 31st and the applicant should be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
The applicant should have also have accomplished any heroic act with regard to the following:
1) Abolishing girl child employment.
2) Preventing girls from child marriage.
3) Achievers in martial arts at the national level.
4) First prize winners in state-level sports competitions and achieving something unique.
5) Have written books and manuals on social distress and solutions for it.
6) Achieving hitherto what only men have been achieving.
The District Collector has invited interested applicants to submit their applications before November 15, 2019 to the District Social Welfare Officer, District Social Welfare Office, Old Building (Ground floor), District Collectorate, Coimbatore.
