The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct UGC-NET examination on January 22 next year. “It is notified that CBSE will conduct the next UGC-NET for junior research fellowship and eligibility for assistant professor on January 22, 2017 (Sunday) at selected cities across India,” the CBSE said in a statement released on September 8.
CBSE conducts NET twice a year on behalf of UGC. The exam will be conducted in order to select candidates for the role of assistant professor/ lecturer and for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF).
Exam scheme
The test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions:
Paper-I: This will be of 100 marks and the candidates need to attempt 50 out of 60. Time duration: 1¼ hours (09.30 am to 10.45 am)
Paper-II: This will be of 100 marks and the candidates need to attempt all 50 questions. Time duration: 1¼ hours (11.15 am to 12.30 pm)
Paper-III: This will be of 150 marks and the candidates need to attempt all 75 questions. Time duration: 2½ hours (2 pm to 4.30 pm).

The exam was held on July 10, 2016 across India, except Srinagar. The exam was later conducted on August 28, 2016. The test was conducted in 83 subjects at 88 selected NET examination cities spread across the country.
