Lorry driver dies of cardiac arrest while driving

In a courageous incident, a 46-year-old, who suffered a fatal heart attack while driving, managed to avert a major accident in Coimbatore, on Saturday.

According to police, the deceased V. Pakkiyaraj, residing at Karamadai, was driving a tipper truck owned by his son P. Praveen (22). On Saturday, at around 11.30 pm, while driving near Pilichi Goundanur, Pakkiyaraj reportedly suffered a major heart attack. But he managed to keep the steering stable and diverted his vehicle to the left side of the road and managed to bring it to a halt, averting a major accident as vehicles were actively moving on both the sides of the road.

Pakkiyaraj succumbed on the way to a nearby hospital.

A case has been registered with the Karamadai police and they are investigating.
