Parties in Captain's team meet to discuss campaigning strategies

Two days after the DMDK entered into an alliance with the People's Welfare Front (PWF), the leaders of the allied political parties from Coimbatore met on Saturday to discuss the plans for the upcoming assembly election. Parties will form booth-wise committees and begin door to door campaigning soon.

Leader of DMDK and member of legislative assembly from Sulur K Thinakaran, left leader R R Mohan Kumar, youth wing secretary of MDMK V Easwaran were among the leaders who took part in the meeting held in Tatabad. The leaders have chalked out plans to reach out to people in each of the 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore, and understand the demands, and the electors' perception.

"All parties will constitute booth-level committees for each constituency between March 28 and April 2. Following this, the booth committees will visit all households, get voter details, their demands from us, and the issues they are facing under the ruling party," said member of the district executive committee of CPI C Thangavel.

The cadres of the parties will also get a feel of what the public feels about DMDK leader Vijayakanth as the chief ministerial candidate. "It is important for us to get an understanding what people of Coimbatore think about Vijayakanth as the chief minister. Our campaigning strategy will be planned based on the public's response," said a member of the left requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, leader of DMDK and Vijayakanth's wife Premalatha Vijayakanth will visit Coimbatore and meet leaders from all the parties in Captain's team on March 31. She will discuss the strategies for campaigning in Coimbatore, and will also discuss the candidates they will be fielding from the constituencies here.

"In the next three days all parties will discuss with their functionaries about the constituencies they would like to contest from and suggest their choices. A final decision will be taken by the senior leaders of the parties in the alliance," said a DMDK leader.
