The Coimbatore district administration has set up control rooms at the Coimbatore collectorate, police headquarters and Income Tax office for the public to report poll-related complaints.
A release said that public can register their poll-related complaints through the toll free number 1800-425-5141.
The WhatsApp number to reach the control room at the District Election Office (collectorate) is 94980-95500. The public can contact the Income Tax Department at 1800-425-6669, the office of the Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore, at 0422-2230950 and the the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural, at 0422-2305758.
The release had asked members of the public to call or message those numbers to lodge model code of conduct violations and election-related complaints.
Gold Seized
Railway Police at the Coimbatore Railway Junction on Saturday seized gold weighing 1,753 grams from a passenger and handed it over to the flying squad officials who then gave it over to the officials in the treasury.
According to P. Gandhimathi, Returning Officer, Coimbatore South Assembly constituency, the gold was seized from Suresh of Thrissur when he alighted from Ernakulam Bangalore Express train.
On interrogation, the Police and election officials learnt that he had boarded the train in Thrissur to take the gold bars to Coimbatore to a goldsmith to make jewellery and that he did not have documents to back his claim.
Cash Seized
The Nilgiris district administration officials on Saturday seized Rs. 6.38 lakh from five persons in Thorapalli, Chembala, and Theppakadu in the Udhagamandalam, Gudalur and Coonoor Assembly constituencies in the district.
Saturday’s seizure takes the total cash seized to Rs. 1.09 crore.
