The Tamilnadu Thaiyal Kalingargal Sammelanam has urged the State Government to regulate the workers’ welfare boards. In a resolution passed during the fourth State conference held here on April 26 and 27, the union said that in appointing persons to many a workers’ welfare boards, only ruling party members had found a place. Members of other trade unions had been ignored.
To get relief from the workers’ welfare boards, the members were forced to be present in person and furnish various proofs. To do this the workers were forced a take a day off by forgoing wages. Organisations would stage a State-wide protest on May 12, said the resolution.
