New District President for BAI

R. Karana Boopathy, Managing Director of R.R. Housing India, will become the District President of The Builder's Association of India (BAI) on Saturday here in Coimbatore.

Briefing media persons ahead of the event here on Thursday, V. Sivarajan, Secretary, BAI, said that the new President would focus on Green Buildings, an initiative to reduce pollution in the environment.

"Most of the materials used in these types of buildings will be made out of recycled raw materials instead of cutting trees," he said.

He added that the usage of sand from river bed would also be reduced as the builders would be coming up with eco-friendly alternatives.

Welcoming the Smart City plan given to Coimbatore by the Centre, he added that BAI would be instrumental in making the scheme possible by liberalising the rules for building; getting permission for new constructions; helping keep the city clean by joining hands with other institutions, and being a bridge between the Government and the building fraternity.
