The rural police on Friday arrested six people for assaulting a 40-year-old woman and damaging her house at Appanaickenpattipudur near Sulur. The arrested people were identified as S Sathishkumar, 22, S Dineshkumar,24, both a lathe operator, R Vellingiri, 28, a daily wage labourer, A Selvaraj, 60, A Senthilkumar, 43, a temple priest and G Sundaramoorthy, 50, a noon meal worker, all hailing from Appanaickenpattipudur.
For more than 25 days, small stones were being thrown at the houses of Sundaramoorthy and his neighbour Veeramani at Appanaickenpattipudur village. Sundaramoorthy suspected his neighbour P Selvi, 40, a nutritious noon meal worker and her family members. So he took his relatives and friends and damaged Selvi's house. They further abused her using her caste name.
3 held for bike theft: Three minor boys studying in Class 10 were arrested on Friday for stealing two motorcycles. They were produced before the juvenile justice board that granted immediate bail to the boys who are appearing for their board examinations. The board asked the police to produce the three boys on April 13. Two two-wheelers had gone missing on March 28 and 29. Preliminary investigation revealed that the minor boys were involved in two more bike theft cases.
