Coimbatore LPG territory of Bharatgas has introduced ‘tamper evident seals’ for LPG cylinders from April 1.
The seal has been invented by LPG Equipment Research Centre (LERC), Bengaluru, by analysing and identifying the defects and deficiencies in the existing seal through material testing and performance studies.
Over the years, LPG cylinders came with a heat shrink plastic seals, introduced several years ago.
It could be removed easily by pouring hot water on it and without leaving behind any trace of tampering.
The new seals were developed through a parametric modifications and improvements in the seal material, form factor and the fracture behaviour when the seal is removed.
