A dry fruit merchant in Pothanur, Coimbatore, returned from a wedding to find his house burgled. Thieves stole Rs 2.35 lakh in cash and three wristwatches while the family was away.
Coimbatore: A dry fruit merchant in Pothanur, Coimbatore, became the victim of a burglary while he and his family were away attending a relative's wedding. The incident came to light when the family returned home on July 22, only to find their front door lock broken and valuables missing.
Mohammed Ismail, 46, a dry fruit merchant from Pothanur, had left his house locked on July 19 to attend a relative's wedding in Salem with his family. Upon their return on July 22, they were shocked to discover that their house had been broken into.
Upon entering the house, Ismail found that Rs 2,35,000 in cash and three wristwatches were missing from the cupboard. He immediately filed a complaint with the Pothanur Police Station.
Inspector Vetriselvi visited the crime scene to conduct an investigation. The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
