I had met Jayalalithaa twice: Venkaiah Naidu

Joining Piyush Goyal and Prakadh Javadekar in the debate on the apparent non-availability of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for meetings, M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, said that he had met her Jayalalithaa twice and discussed various issues with her.

"That is their experience," he said, referring to the statements made by his cabinet colleagues that they were not able to contact or meet Jayalalithaa to discuss various projects that could be beneficial to the state.

About the BJP's prospects in the state elections, he said that the party will contest on the basis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's achievements. "You have seen Aiyya (Karunanidhi), and Amma (Jayalalithaa). It's time to see Bhaiyya (Modi)," Naidu said.

On the question of the GAIL gas pipeline issue, he said that the centre will keep the farmers' interests in mind while making the final decision.
