Four young men were arrested in Sulur, Coimbatore for a series of thefts and robberies. The gang had been involved in multiple incidents across Sulur, Karumathampatti, Periyanaickenpalayam, and Palladam areas.
Coimbatore: The Sulur police have arrested four young men for their involvement in a series of thefts and robberies in various parts of Coimbatore district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohan (24), Vijay (26), Abilesh (29), and Mubarak Ali (29).
The case came to light when Princess (49), a resident of Sulur, filed a complaint at the Sulur police station on July 12. She had returned home from visiting her son at the hospital to find her house broken into and approximately 8½ sovereigns of gold jewelry stolen from her cupboard.
Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and analyzed CCTV footage from the area. The footage revealed that the four-member gang was responsible for the theft at Princess's house. Further investigation uncovered that the same group was involved in multiple theft and robbery incidents across Sulur, Karumathampatti, Periyanaickenpalayam, and Palladam areas.
The gang had also stolen a two-wheeler belonging to Vignesh, a resident of Palladam. CCTV footage showed that they used this stolen vehicle to commit their crimes in various locations.
On August 2, the police apprehended the four suspects and recovered the stolen items. The arrested individuals were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
This arrest has brought relief to the residents of the affected areas who had been living in fear due to the recent spate of thefts and robberies. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
