Coimbatore: In a commendable effort to nurture the environment, volunteers engaged in a field mission to maintain tree saplings in Pillayarpuram, Coimbatore on Sunday (September 15, 2024). The saplings were originally planted by the Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu in the area under the Madukkarai Forest Range.

The volunteers, notably including National Service Scheme (NSS) students from Sri Krishna Arts and Science College, focused on removing weeds around the saplings. Their dedication to this task was particularly noteworthy, as they worked diligently to ensure the healthy growth of the young trees.

This initiative demonstrates the ongoing commitment of local organizations and educational institutions to environmental conservation in Coimbatore. By maintaining these saplings, the volunteers are contributing to the long-term green cover of the region, which is crucial for ecological balance and biodiversity.

The involvement of college students in such environmental activities not only helps in the immediate task at hand but also instills a sense of responsibility towards nature in the younger generation. It serves as a practical lesson in environmental stewardship, complementing their academic learning with hands-on experience in conservation efforts.
