Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District DMK, on behalf of the Indian Alliance Parties, organized a massive protest demonstration near the Tatabad Power House on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The protest was aimed at condemning Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for allegedly humiliating and intimidating entrepreneurs during a GST meeting in Coimbatore, forcing them to apologize.
The event saw participation from state and district leaders of the DMK and its allied parties, who delivered speeches criticizing the Union Minister's actions. The protest was led by N. Karthik, ex-MLA and Secretary of Coimbatore Urban District DMK.

Notable attendees included T.A. Ravi, Secretary of North District DMK; Thalapathi Murugesan, Secretary of South District DMK; Ganapathi Rajkumar MP, Chairman of Coimbatore Urban District DMK; R. Priya, Mayor of Coimbatore Corporation; and Mayura S. Jayakumar, National Secretary of the Indian National Congress party.
Other prominent participants were district leaders and secretaries of various alliance parties, including MDMK, CPI(M), CPI, TNPF, VCK, KMDK, and Adhi Tamilar Peravai. DMK Deputy Secretaries Kottai Abbas, Kalpana Senthil, and Ashok Arukkutti were also present.

The gathering saw thousands of DMK and alliance party workers, local body representatives, and volunteers from across Coimbatore district. The protest highlighted the united front of opposition parties against what they perceived as undue pressure on local entrepreneurs by the Union Finance Minister during her recent visit to Coimbatore.
