Coimbatore: Members of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) paid tribute to Periyar E.V. Ramasamy on his 146th birth anniversary by garlanding his statue in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore on Sunday (Sept. 17).
The event was led by Kottai Abbas, the Deputy Secretary of the DMK's City District unit. Notable attendees included K. Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, Pasupathi, DMK's Zonal Secretary, advocate Ganesh Kumar, and Anbu Sezhiyan, along with representatives from various other parties.
In a separate celebration, the DMK party commemorated Periyar's 146th birth anniversary at Anaimalai Triangle in Coimbatore district. Dr. A.P. Senthilkumar, Anaimalai Town Secretary of DMK, led the proceedings by garlanding a portrait of Periyar. A. Abuthahir, the Deputy Town Secretary of Anaimalai, and numerous party members participated in this event, showing their respect and admiration for the social reformer's legacy.
