In Coimbatore, a notorious rowdy named Alwin, wanted for murder, was shot and arrested by the police after he attacked officers during a capture attempt. The incident occurred in the Codissia complex area.

Coimbatore: A dramatic turn of events unfolded in Coimbatore as the police special task force successfully apprehended a notorious rowdy named Alwin, who had been evading arrest for a year in connection with a murder case. The operation, which took place in the Codissia complex area, resulted in the suspect being shot and injured after he attempted to attack the police officers.

Acting on orders from Coimbatore City Police Inspector Balakrishnan, a special task force had been actively searching for Alwin, who was wanted for his involvement in a murder that occurred a year ago. The fugitive had been absconding, failing to appear in court for the ongoing case.

Upon receiving intelligence about Alwin's hideout in the Codissia complex area, a team led by Assistant Inspector Karthikeyan conducted a surveillance operation. When the suspect realized the police presence, he allegedly attempted to attack the officers with a knife. In the ensuing struggle, Head Constable Rajkumar sustained a cut wound on his left wrist.

As Alwin continued his assault and attempted to escape, Assistant Inspector Karthikeyan, in an act of self-defense, fired his service weapon.

The shots struck Alwin in both legs, effectively halting his escape attempt. The injured suspect was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police records reveal that Alwin has a substantial criminal history, with 13 cases registered against him, including three murder cases and four attempted murder charges. This extensive record highlights the significance of his capture for the local law enforcement.

The incident has created a stir in Coimbatore, drawing attention to the risks faced by law enforcement officers in apprehending dangerous criminals. The police department is expected to provide further details about the operation and Alwin's pending cases in the coming days.
