District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated a new playground near the Solar Power Plant in Ukkadam, Coimbatore on 23.09.2024. The facility aims to benefit the public and youth in the area.
Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati IAS inaugurated a new playground for public use near the Solar Power Plant in Ukkadam, Pullukadu area of Coimbatore on September 23, 2024. The event was presided over by Mayor K. Ranganayaki Ramachandran, with City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan IPS and Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS in attendance.

The playground, located in Ward 86 of the South Zone of Coimbatore Corporation, was developed on a 1.09-acre plot at a cost of Rs. 6.90 lakh. The area was leveled, cleared of waste and bushes, and fenced with a 270-meter long barbed wire fence with an iron gate for public access.

Officials urged the public and youth to make good use of the new playground facility.

Prior to the inauguration, the District Collector, Mayor, City Police Commissioner, and Corporation Commissioner planted tree saplings in the playground complex.


They also inspected the replanting of an 86-year-old heritage tree.

The event was attended by Zonal Assistant Commissioner (in-charge) Elangovan, Ward Councillor Ahmed Kabir, Assistant Engineer Kanagaraj, Assistant Town Planner Jayalakshmi, Assistant Engineer Sundarrajan, and other Corporation officials.

In a separate event on the same day, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati IAS inaugurated a new passenger shelter opposite the new bus stand on Mettupalayam Road in Ward 45 of the West Zone. Mayor K. Ranganayaki Ramachandran presided over this event as well.
Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS, West Zone Committee Chairperson Deivayani Tamilmarai, Assistant Commissioner T.S. Duraimurugan, Assistant Executive Engineer Savitha, Zonal Health Officer Veeran, Junior Engineer Hariprasad, and other Corporation officials were present at the inauguration of the passenger shelter.
The new playground and passenger shelter are part of Coimbatore Corporation's ongoing efforts to improve public amenities and recreational facilities for residents. These initiatives aim to enhance the quality of life for citizens and promote a healthier, more active lifestyle among the youth.
