Four scientists from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University received the Tamil Nadu Scientists' Award for their contributions in agricultural research during a ceremony held at Anna University, Chennai on October 23rd.
Coimbatore: In a significant recognition of their research contributions, four scientists from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) were honored with the prestigious Tamil Nadu Scientists' Award (TANSA) at a ceremony held at Anna University, Chennai on Monday, September 23rd.
The Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) organized the award ceremony, which saw the distribution of awards for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. The Honorable Minister for Higher Education, K. Ponmudy, presented the awards in the presence of several dignitaries, including Pradeep Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education, and T. Abraham, Commissioner of the Directorate of Technical Education.

The TNAU scientists who received the awards in the Agricultural Sciences category are:
1. Dr. P. Jeyakumar, Director (Planning & Monitoring) - 2018 award for his contribution to physiological approaches in crop management.
2. Dr. U. Sivakumar, Professor and Head (Agricultural Microbiology) - 2019 award for his work in fermentation, biocatalysts, proteomics, and protein engineering.
3. Dr. G. Karthikeyan, Professor (Plant Pathology) - 2020 award for his research in plant virology and biological control.
4. Dr. K. T. Parthiban, Professor (Forestry) - 2021 award for his contribution to tree improvement, industrial agroforestry, and the "Trees Outside Forests in India" project.
TNAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. V. Geethalakshmi congratulated the scientists on their achievements in the presence of Dr. R. Thamizh Vendan, Registrar, and other university officers. She emphasized the importance of focusing on interdisciplinary research that benefits the farming community.
