College Student's Gold Chain Snatched on Moving Bus in Coimbatore

A 24-year-old college student from Andhra Pradesh had her 8-gram gold chain snatched while traveling on a bus to Coimbatore Railway Station after collecting certificates from a private college in Ettimadai.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a college student fell victim to a chain-snatching episode while traveling on a moving bus in Coimbatore on Monday, September 25. The victim, identified as Yaswini (24), daughter of Venkateswalu from Andhra Pradesh, had her 8-gram gold chain stolen by an unidentified person.

Yaswini had come to Coimbatore to collect her certificates from a private college in Ettimadai. After obtaining the documents, she boarded a bus heading towards the Coimbatore Railway Station. It was during this journey that the unfortunate incident occurred.

The theft came to light when Yaswini realized her gold chain was missing from her neck. Distressed by the incident, she immediately filed a complaint at the Race Course Police Station upon reaching her destination.

Sub-Inspector Amudha has registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. The police are currently examining potential leads and working to identify the culprit responsible for this brazen act of theft on public transport.

This incident has raised concerns about passenger safety on public buses in Coimbatore, prompting calls for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent such crimes in the future.
