Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a businessman's house in Idayarpalayam, near Saibaba Colony in Coimbatore, was burglarized, resulting in the theft of 70 sovereigns of gold jewelry, 15 kg of silver, and several household appliances.
The victim, Nagarajan (70), a businessman residing in Pari Nagar, Idayarpalayam, had left for Bengaluru on September 12 with his family for business purposes. Upon returning on September 25, they discovered that their house had been broken into and valuables stolen.
The stolen items included 70 sovereigns of gold jewelry, 15 kg of silver, a refrigerator, and a washing machine. After examining the CCTV footage installed in the house, it was revealed that individuals identified as Kumar, Suresh, and a few others were involved in the theft.
Following the discovery, Nagarajan filed a complaint with the Saibaba Colony Police Station. Sub-Inspector Deepa has registered a case and is currently investigating the incident.
The police are now intensifying their efforts to trace and apprehend the suspects identified in the CCTV footage. This incident has raised concerns about the security of residential areas in Coimbatore, particularly when homeowners are away for extended periods.
