Oyilattam and Valli Kummiyattam Debut Performance in Coimbatore: Girls and Women Dance in Colorful Attire

Simmakural Arts Group organized a debut performance of Oyilattam and Valli Kummiyattam in Coimbatore. Girls and women in colorful attire danced to the rhythms of Pambai, mesmerizing the audience.


Coimbatore: The debut performance of Oyilattam and Valli Kummiyattam organized by Simmakural Arts Group captivated the audience in Coimbatore. The event, held in the Vilankurichi area, saw hundreds of participants from children to adults dancing enthusiastically to the beats of Pambai music in vibrant costumes.

Simmakural Arts Group has been offering free lessons in traditional Tamil art forms such as Oyilattam, Valli Kummiyattam, and Kavadiyattam. While these art forms were previously taught only in rural areas, now people from all walks of life, including the younger generation, are eagerly learning these traditional Tamil arts.



The event, which took place in an open ground, also featured bulls as part of the performance. This program was organized to create awareness about traditional arts among the younger generation. The Simmakural Arts Group's Pambai music was accompanied by folk devotional songs. In sync with the music, young girls and women adorned in colorful outfits and anklets performed coordinated dance movements, enthralling the spectators.

The performance, which lasted for over three hours, was witnessed by a large crowd. Organizers stated that this event served as an effort to preserve traditional art forms. The colorful spectacle of dancers moving to the rhythmic beats of Pambai, coupled with the enthusiasm of the participants and audience, highlighted the enduring appeal of these age-old art forms in modern times.
