The project, estimated to cost Rs 8.20 lakh, is funded by the District Panchayat Member's fund and aims to expand drinking water distribution in the area.
The bhoomi puja marked the commencement of construction for the overhead water tank with a capacity of 30 lakh liters. Mettupalayam MLA A.K. Selvaraj and District Panchayat Member Sangeetha attended the ceremony and officially inaugurated the works.
Local residents also participated in the event, during which predictions were shared with them. The new overhead water tank is expected to significantly improve the water supply infrastructure in Velayuthapuram and surrounding areas, benefiting numerous households in the Kalampalaiyam Panchayat.
