Gram Sabha Meeting Near Pollachi Passes Resolutions on Women's Safety and Tobacco Ban

A Gram Sabha meeting held near Pollachi, chaired by Coimbatore District Collector, passed resolutions on preventing crimes against women and completely banning tobacco sales on Gandhi Jayanti.


Coimbatore: A Gram Sabha meeting was held today at Vadaputhur village near Pollachi, chaired by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. The meeting saw a large turnout of residents from the Vadaputhur rural area.



The gathering passed several significant resolutions, focusing on crucial social issues. These included measures to prevent sexual violence against women, steps to stop child marriages, and a complete ban on tobacco sales in the area.



The meeting also resolved to identify students who have completed 12th grade and create awareness about higher education opportunities.



Additionally, attendees took an anti-tobacco pledge, reinforcing the community's commitment to public health. The event was attended by notable figures including Pollachi Member of Parliament Eswaran, Vadaputhur Panchayat President Abinya Ashok Kumar, District Panchayat Councilor Rajan, Kinathukadavu Municipality Chairman Kathirvel, Union Secretary Senthil, and DMK Engineers Wing Executive Ashok Kumar. Officials from various government departments were also present at the meeting.

The Gram Sabha meeting highlighted the local administration's focus on addressing pressing social issues and promoting community welfare. By passing resolutions on women's safety, child protection, and public health, the gathering demonstrated a collective commitment to improving the quality of life in the region.
