A petition has been submitted to the District Collector demanding the recovery of the Arunthathiyar temple in Karamadai, Coimbatore district, which is allegedly encroached upon by a private trust, and to return it to the Arunthathiyar community.
Coimbatore: Members of the Karamadai Arunthathiyar Temple Recovery Committee have submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector's office, demanding the recovery and return of a public community hall (temple) belonging to the Arunthathiyar community in Karamadai Municipality, Mettupalayam Taluk, Coimbatore District.

According to the details provided in the petition, this temple is currently not in use by the Arunthathiyar community members. It is mentioned that a person named Duraisamy has transferred and sold the property of the temple to another individual named Natarajan under the name 'Sri Arundathi Public Welfare Trust'.

The petition points out that in Karamadai, there are separate temples for all community members, and these temples are in use by their respective communities. However, it is condemnable that only the Arunthathiyar temple is not in use by the Arunthathiyar community and is in the possession of a single individual.
The petitioners have requested the District Collector to take appropriate action against those who have encroached upon this property belonging to the Arunthathiyar community. They have also appealed for the recovery of the temple and its return for the use of the Arunthathiyar community members.
