Public Demand for Roundabout at Unjavelampatti Junction Amid Road Repair Works

National Highway from Pollachi to Unjavelampatti undergoes repairs after southwest monsoon damage. Public demands roundabout at Unjavelampatti junction to reduce accidents on October 8.

Coimbatore: The National Highway from Pollachi to Unjavelampatti, which had deteriorated due to the southwest monsoon rains, is currently undergoing repair work. The highway department began maintenance work on October 8 to address the potholes that had formed along the route, which had led to an increase in two-wheeler accidents, especially during nighttime.

In a related development, residents and motorists have put forth a demand for the construction of a roundabout at the Unjavelampatti junction, where the Dharapuram Road and Udumalaipet Road intersect. This request comes in light of frequent accidents occurring at this spot due to poor visibility for vehicles crossing from Dharapuram Road towards Pollachi, unable to clearly see vehicles coming from Udumalaipet.

The public has also raised concerns about a private restaurant near Unchavelampatty, where parked cars on the service road are causing inconvenience to school children and parents. This situation is exacerbating the already accident-prone nature of the road.

In response to these issues, residents have appealed to the concerned authorities on October 8 to take necessary action to improve road safety in the area. They hope that the implementation of a roundabout and proper regulation of parking will help reduce accidents and ease traffic flow at this crucial junction.
