Heavy rainfall in Coimbatore on October 11 led to severe traffic congestion in the Race Course area. Four-wheeler drivers faced long queues, while two-wheeler riders sought shelter from the downpour.

Coimbatore: Heavy rainfall on October 11 has caused significant traffic disruptions in various parts of Coimbatore, particularly in the Race Course area. The sudden downpour has led to long queues of four-wheelers, with drivers unable to proceed due to waterlogged roads.

The Race Course area is experiencing severe traffic congestion as a result of the heavy rain. Social activists in the area have called for the immediate intervention of the traffic police to manage the situation and restore normal traffic flow.

Meanwhile, the Singanallur area and its surroundings have been experiencing continuous rainfall since morning. The day began with overcast skies and cool breezes, but quickly transformed into a heavy downpour that has lasted for over an hour.

The sudden onset of rain has particularly affected two-wheeler riders, who are facing considerable difficulties. Many riders have been forced to stop and seek shelter at various points along their routes to escape the heavy rainfall.

The meteorological conditions in Coimbatore have taken residents by surprise, with the abrupt change from cool breezes to intense rainfall. The situation has highlighted the need for better urban planning and drainage systems to cope with sudden weather changes and prevent traffic congestion during heavy rains.

Local authorities are expected to take necessary measures to alleviate the traffic situation and ensure the safety of commuters, especially in areas prone to waterlogging during heavy rainfall.
