Tourist Found Dead at Isha Yoga Centre; Police Enquiry Indicates Suicide

Police investigations indicate that the 29-year-old man found dead inside the Isha Yoga Centre premises near Coimbatore on Sunday died by suicide after jumping from an elevated structure within the campus.


Coimbatore, June 8: A 29-year-old man was found dead inside the Isha Yoga Centre premises near Coimbatore on Sunday, with preliminary police enquiries indicating that he died by suicide.

The deceased was identified as Karthi (29), a native of Siruvadi in Villupuram district. Police said he had been residing in Coimbatore for the past year and was employed as a Hitachi operator.

According to police, security personnel at the centre were alerted on Sunday evening after a man was found lying injured near the car parking exit area. Emergency medical services were immediately informed, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Subsequently, a case was registered under Section 194 of the BNSS at the Alandurai Police Station.

“During the course of investigation, police examined the CCTV footages and found that the deceased had climbed onto the roof/top portion of a power room structure located within the premises and subsequently jumped from the height, resulting in fatal injuries.

Detailed scrutiny of multiple CCTV recordings did not indicate the involvement of any other person or any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident”, police reports said.

Investigators added that no evidence of foul play has emerged, so far.

Following the completion of post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the family members. Further enquiries are under way.
