Fire breaks out in Coimbatore plastic godown


Coimbatore: Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in a fire that broke out at a plastic godown on the Avinashi Road.

The 3600-sqaure-foot godown belonged to GD Plast Private Ltd.

The fire broke out at 10.45am while the labourers were moulding plastic raw material.

Fire and rescue services personal with ten fire tenders reached the spot at 11.30am and doused the blaze within 30 minutes.

"There are no casualties as we have a foolproof fire system with alarms. All the employees ran out, and no one was injured," said Sri Ram, manager, human resources at the company.

Police said only ten employees were present in the godown when the fire broke out.
