From spicy sundal and ice cream to books and plastic toys, visitors to VOC Park, the zoo and the children play area have several things to shop in and around the park.
For the visitors, there are temporary shops, mobile rides for children, horse riding, fortune tellers and games and much more.
Roadside eateries
According to an official of Coimbatore Corporation, about 70 push carts sell goods and food items in the VOC park area every day.
The push carts start coming in at about 4 p.m. and the sales goes on up to 10 p.m. or so.
The sales is good during weekends and holidays, says one of them who has rides for children. Apart from the push carts and temporary shops, several eateries are functioning out of the buildings constructed by the Corporation.
The stadium also houses more than 80 shops that sell a range of products.
These were constructed in the 1970s and have been rented out, say official sources.
Co-optex showroom in the stadium is functioning for almost four decades now.
The location attracts customers and there is no problem of finding space to park vehicles, says R.Natrajan, manager at Marutham Co-optex.
