The curtains for the three-day fitness festival 'Coimbatore Fitness Festival', organized by a crew of former national and international level athletes, will go up on Friday. The event, to be held in two locations, is expected to attract 8,000 people. The aim is to promote the 'fun' in being fit.
A fitness crew of former athletes, called Beethoven's Body Zeal, is inviting the public across all ages to come to either Purandaradasar Hall in R S Puram or Avila Convent on Thadagam Road for three days to get a taste of the hunger of fitness. "The reason we made the entry free is to attract as many people as possible to just try some fitness routine or other," said Krish Beethoven, one of the organisers. "Most people are aware of gymnasium machines, walks, jogs, aerobics and most recently Zumba. But many people are yet to know about circuit training, Bokwa, core training and other methods of fitness training that allow you to burn 1,000 calories in an hour," he said.
