A visual treat for fans of German Shepherd dogs

As many as 134 German Shepherd dogs participated in the third specialty show at the Government Arts College, Udhagamandalam, on Sunday.

Organised by the Nilgiris chapter of The German Shepherd Dog Confederation (GSDC), competitions were conducted separately in the Normal Coat and Long Coat categories.

In the Normal Coat the competition was conducted in five classes based on the age of the dog: baby puppy (six to nine months old), puppy (10 to 12 months old), youth (13 to 18 months old), young (19 to 24 months old) and open class (more than 24 months old). In the Long Coat it was conducted in three classes: puppy (six to 12 months old), junior (13 to 24 months old) and open (more than 24 months old).

President of GSDC Nilgiris Chapter S.T. Lajapathie said that the event was aimed at encouraging the breed in The Nilgiris and the few hundred families thriving on the breed foran
