Not a CIA agent: Anti-nuke activist

Anti-nuclear activist and chief coordinator for Pachai Tamilgam party SP Udayakumar has accused both DMK and AIADMK for failing to fulfil the Avinashi-Athikadavu project.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Udayakumar said that he was not funded by the United States or any other country.

He also added that he was not an informer to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). "If it is proved that I received funding from the CIA or any other foreign intelligence agencies, then Tamil Nadu police can arrest me at any time," he said.

He accused Dravidian parties for ignoring the plight of the public and fighting amongst themselves.

He said the failure of implementing the Avinashi-Athikadavu scheme for Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode district as a classic example of the political scenario in the state.

Udayakumar revealed that he was forced to quit Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after Aravind Kejriwal refused to take up the Kudankulam nuclear power plant issue. He added that his political outfit Pachai Tamiligam would welcome public servants like IAS officer U Sagayam to come forward and work with his party. "I have been charged with 101 cases, most of them are sedition charges," he said. Udayakumar also accused the Tamil Nadu government of ignoring the apex court's direction to discharge the sedition cases against him. "Out of the 101 cases, the state has chargesheeted me in 35 cases," said Udyakumar.

He also spoke of his party's agenda in the upcoming assembly polls.

"We will be contesting from Radhapuram assembly constituency in Tirunelveli district. We have a ten point agenda for the people which includes resisting the Kudankulam nuclear plant, the GAIL project and setting up of a neutrino observatory in Theni," he added.
