Innovation is key to growth of businesses, pointed out R. Srinivasan, Managing Director of Saint-Gobain India, here on Monday.
He was speaking at the launch of BuildMat 2017. The eighth edition of the event will be organised by the Coimbatore chapters of Builders’ Association of India, Indian Institute of Architects, and Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) here from February 2 to 5 next year. The Hindu is the media partner for the exhibition.
Explaining about Saint-Gobain’s global and Indian businesses and products, he said that one out of every four products of the company did not exist five years ago. About 25 per cent of the sales comes from new products. So, the focus is on innovation. The company has opened a research centre recently in Chennai.
Ajit Sabnis, president of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), said that if all the projections of the Government and policies, especially those related to smart cities, go in the right direction the country is poised for tremendous growth and the construction industry will see a surge in activities.
D. Nandakumar, president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, said with a year to go and encouraging response to the exhibition already, the event will be a huge success.
