Corporation Commissioner appears in court

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan appeared in a court for cases by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption in Coimbatore to fulfil a legal obligation in two graft cases against as many bill collectors.

He had earlier in 2014 accorded permission for initiation of legal action against bill collectors Gokilavani and Vasanthakumari on charges that they demanded and accepted bribe for making changes in property tax documents.

Sources said that as the senior officer who accorded the permission, he was present in the court as the prosecution witness, as mandated by law. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption had registered cases against the two bill collectors. The judge posted the cases to March 30 and 31 respectively.
