A. Ganapathi (64) will take charge as the Bharathiar University Vice-Chancellor on Thursday. A native of Thuraiyur in Tiruchi, he had worked as a botany professor in the Bharathidasan University after getting a doctorate in 1986.
Till his retirement in 2012, Mr. Ganapathi was the head of the Bio Technology Department and guided 35 research scholars in their doctoral programme.
He had headed projects for which he had secured grants worth Rs. 4 crore from the Union Government.
Among his distinguished achievements is the fact that he had published 146 research papers and getting H-Index 25 for his contribution at the international level, says a release.
After his retirement, the UGC granted him the Emeritus position to carry out research projects in Bharathidasan University.
