Education will give girls self-confidence

Burning desire to achieve the goal is the basis for women reaching top positions in their career and life, according to Principal District Judge R. Poornima.

Interacting with girl students at Sowbaghya Illam at Gandhigram near here on Tuesday as part of legal awareness campaign organised by District Legal Service Authority, she said that education would give girls self-confidence. Girls should believe that they would achieve in life, she advised.

Quoting from Bharatiyar’s works, she said that students should love their studies, work and their ambition to achieve.

In her special address, Mahila Court Session Judge Brundha Kesavachari said that economic independence was necessary for women. Education would ensure it and financial capacity would give confidence. Law had given protection to woman at all stages. “Women should not lose self-confidence under any circumstances because it is very vital to fight against odds and overcome barriers,” she added.

Additional Sub-Judge A. Deepa said that education would give adequate protection to women. Treatment of women as equals would scale down crimes in society.

Judicial Magistrate K. Kavitha stated the education would change the life of women. District Legal Service Authority Secretary and Principal Sub-Judge K. Karunanidhi spoke.

Later, Ms. Poornima delivered a guest lecture at the International Women’s Day celebrations organised by women lawyers in the city.
