Cotton prices to remain stable

The Agro-Marketing Intelligence and Business Promotion Centre of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has forecasted stable prices for long staple summer cotton this season. They are expected to fetch a price of around Rs.5,500-5,800 per quintal during July-August.

Currently, the price of good quality long staple cotton in Konganapuram regulated market is around Rs 6,000 per quintal.

Based on the data of the monthly prices prevailing in Konganapuram for the last nine years, the analysis forecasts prices of around Rs.5,500 to Rs.5,800 per quintal.

Dharmapuri, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Perambalur, Tiruchirapalli, and Salem are the major cotton growing districts of Tamil Nadu.
