Two killed, 10 injured in accident in Ebbanad

Two women were killed and ten others sustained injuries, when a jeep lost control and rammed a tree at Ebbanad near Udhagamandalam on Friday morning.

15 workers

According to the police, as many as 15 workers were returning in a jeep after work. When the vehicle was nearing Gandhi Nagar in Ebbanad, the driver was said to have steered the jeep towards the road boundary to avert hitting a stray dog that jumped onto the road space.

In the process, the driver lost control of the jeep and rammed a roadside tree. The jeep overturned, crushing a few passengers underneath.




Victims

The deceased were identified as Chinthamani (45), wife of Maadhan, and Palaniammal (45), wife of Nanjundan. Another woman, Sumithra (35), sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Coimbatore. Others were admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital in Udhagamandalam

Police are investigating.
