Farmer trampled to death in Masinagudi

A 53-year-old farmer was trampled to death today by an elephant in Masinagudi.

Pappan, the farmer, was grazing his goats in Sincara, when he suddenly found two elephants standing in front of him and behind him. Even before he could decide which way to run, one of the elephants caught him and trampled him to death.

Some passers-by in a jeep tried to scare the elephants away by blowing the vehicle's horn, but the pachyderm had by then attacked the farmer. He was rushed to the Government Hospital as soon as the elephants moved away, but he was dead by then.
