1,700 cases settled in Lok Adalat

A total of 1,700 cases were settled in the Lok Adalat conducted in Coimbatore and The Nilgiris on Saturday.

In The Nilgiris 1,391 cases were settled, with total compensation and settlements made to the tune of Rs. 1.21 crore. It was inclusive of 45 cases of non-repayment of loans to banks. The Adalat was held at Udhagamandalam, Gudalur, Kotagiri, Coonoor and Pandalur courts.

In Coimbatore, settlement to the tune of Rs. 4.25 crore was made in the 309 cases resolved at the Lok Adalat conducted at the combined court building on Saturday.

Principal District Judge, R. Pongiappan, and secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, V. John Mino, presided over the Adalat.
