To ensure 100 per cent polling in the coming Assembly election, the Nilgiris district administration on Monday reached out to students to ask their parents to vote.
A release from the administration said that District Collector P. Shankar, and officials spoke to students of the Breeks All India Secondary School in Udhagamandalam, and Arignar Anna Higher Secondary School in Coonoor, about the importance of exercising franchise.
The Collector then administered a pledge asking the students that they would ensure that their parents voted, the release added.
This was part of various steps that the administration had taken thus far.
It had organised rallies, pasted stickers on vehicles and sent out screens playing video clippings talking about the importance of voting, the release added.
In the Nilgiris, the officials seized Rs. 92,000 from a person in Melur Hosatty in the Udhagamandalam Assembly constituency.
Cases
In Coimbatore, the officials had thus far registered 225 cases and seized Rs. 20.98 lakh unaccounted money.
