An Aavin tea stall that came up at an unauthorized location at Race Course was removed by the Coimbatore Corporation authorities on Monday.
Sources said the licensee, who was given the permission to set up an Aavin stall, had set up the booth at a location different from the place for which permission was granted.
The city corporation authorities received a complaint from a resident of Race Course that the stall was set up close to a road junction which would pose trouble for commuters as well joggers. Based on the complaint corporation commissioner K Vijay Karthikeyan instructed town planning officials to inspect and take appropriate measures.
The town planning officials who visited the spot on Sunday found the stall had violated the terms of the permission. When they warned the licensee and he agreed to relocate but sought time for the same. However, officials later found out that he had not to moved the stall and it was still operating from the same spot. Subsequently, a team from the city corporation visited the place on Monday and removed the stall.
