Coimbatore Chapter of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry today thanked the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for announcing new norms for Pollution Control Consent 0316, as it would be beneficial to industries and contribute to the ease of doing business in India.

In a resolution adopted at the recent general council meeting the Chamber urged the Tamil Nadu State Pollution Control Board to adopt the new norms as per the directions of the Central Government. It has asked to classify and make an inventory of industries in the State in accordance with these new norms and put them on its website at the earliest, Chamber president, D. Nandakumar said.

Stating that for the Industries in this region, the new norms were positive, he said that this also provided for the issue of the "Consent to Operate' industries for longer period than one year.

The industries were facing delays, harassment and expenditure in the annual renewal of “Consent to Operate' and the increase in the period of the validity of the Consent, directed by the new norms, would reduce this harassment, he said.

The meeting was held on March 14 where the members found it quite reasonable and appreciated the Government, Nandakumar said.
