Mudumalai camp elephant runs amuck, two injured

Wilson, an adult male elephant of the Forest Department at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve elephant camp at Theppakadu, on Tuesday night ran amuck injuring its cavadi and mahout.

It is learnt that the elephant had just recovered from musth (an aggressive behaviour born out of urge for biological ventilation).

The elephant handlers, Madappan and Murugan, sustained injuries and after first aid at Gudalur they were rushed to Udhagamandalam.

After an aggressive behaviour, the elephant is said to have sneaked into the wild and efforts are on to locate the animal now.
