Five-tier security for Coimbatore airport

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has deployed five-tier security for the Coimbatore International Airport from the late hours of Tuesday, after the attack on the airport in Brussels by terrorists.

Security has been beefed up from the outer periphery of the airport, where the city police have also stepped up measures.

Meeting held

A senior CISF officer said that the airport security committee meeting was conducted and the airport, airline and other stakeholders have been put on alert.

Random check of luggage and passenger checks have been increased, while spotters are deployed in plain clothes to monitor movement of suspicious persons.

Surveillance


The Coimbatore City Police have stepped up security from the outpost to the outer periphery of the airport and increased surveillance from Tuesday.

In addition to the local police, the bomb detention and disposal squad has also been pressed for service at the airport.
