In an attempt to tackle work pressure, CISF personnel in Coimbatore have decided to conduct interactive sessions for their jawans with eminent sports personalities once every five months.
In light of this decision, a session was planned with ace racer Narain Karthikeyan, during which he shared his experiences while he was training to become an F1 racer. He recalled how he was asked to reduce four kilos for a super formula series in Japan in order to compensate for his vehicle's heavy tyre. CISF assistant commandant K Shrinivas said many personnel also face similar challenges while training.
Constable Pankaj Kumar of CISF, who is from a small village in Bihar, has been living in the city, away from his family, for the past few years. "Our job is filled with hardships and we are under constant pressure. Moreover, sometimes we get depressed as we stay away from our families," he said.
He was elated when the CISF decided to call Narain Karthikeyan to Coimbatore Airport on Wednesday for an interactive session. "The idea is to motivate the personnel as both sports personalities and jawans face pressure situations and are away from their families frequently," said inspector Yogendra Yadav.
