Rajasthan and Punjab shines at the first day of the Youth national basketball championship

Coimbatore : The defending champions Rajasthan started with a big victory 85-29 over Delhi in the 36th Youth National Basketball Championship held at the PSG Tech Indoor sports complex here on Tuesday.

Coimbatore : The defending champions Rajasthan started with a big victory 85-29 over Delhi in the 36th Youth National Basketball Championship held at the PSG Tech Indoor sports complex here on Tuesday.

Digoyay Singh and Shivam Kumawat (25 pts each) drove Rajasthan towards victory. While Kartnataka defeated Kerala by just 3 points in a close contest in Court 1, Achintya Krishna scored 29 points for his side.



In another boys match, Andhra pradesh claimed a thumping 120-54 win over Goa to register their first victory in the tournament. Khaleel Ghose was the leading scorer (50 pts) from the winning side. 



It was not a good day on the field for Tamil Nadu boys team, as they lost to Haryana 82-63 in their opening game. Compensating the loss, Tamil Nadu girls team thrashed Madhya Pradesh 79-29 and emerged victorious. 



In girls category, the defending champions Punjab started the season with a thrilling win 74-69 with Harsimra Kaur (26pts) and Kanisha (20 pts) emerging heroes for Punjab.
