The seats were filled in two phases of admission counselling.
Coimbatore: There are 23 types of courses in Government Arts College, Coimbatore including courses for BA, Tamil, English, Politics and B.Sc. Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and B.Com.
The first year admission for a total of 1,433 seats started on August 26. On the first day, seats were reserved for children of veterans, athletes and the differently-abled. This was followed by admission counselling for the general public. A total of 1,114 seats were filled and 319 seats were still vacant. Phase 2 counseling for these vacancies was held at the college on Wednesday. Of these, 105 seats were filled, adding to a total of 1219 seats.
Similarly, 179 seats were vacant after the completion of the first phase counseling for the first year student admission for 552 seats for post-graduate courses. The second phase of counseling for these vacancies took place on Wednesday in which 10 vacancies were filled. Thus, a total of 383 seats have been filled for the post-graduate courses.
