TNAU awarded Institution of Excellence Award 2021 by AIASA

The award was presented to TNAU to attest to its 50 years of contribution toward Agricultural Education, Extension and Research activities.


Coimbatore: To attest to 50 years of contribution towards Agricultural Education, Extension and Research activities, the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has been conferred with the Institution of Excellence Award - 2021 by the All India Agricultural Students Association (AIASA).

The award was presented on the occasion of the International Conference on 'Advances in Agriculture and Food System towards Sustainable Development Goals (AAFS-2022)' on August 22, 2022 jointly organized by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, All India Agricultural Students Association and Indian Council of Agricultural Research at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru (Karnataka).

Education, Research, Extension Education, Agri-business Development, Policy Support and Open and Distance Learning on Skill Development to meet the global challenges of food production and farming as a profitable venture are the six spearheads of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University which was started in 1876 as an Agricultural School at Saidapet, in Chennai.TNAU blossomed as an Agricultural College and Research Institute in Coimbatore, in 1906. Later in 1971, it was upgraded as the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

TNAU is ranked 4th among the State Agricultural Universities of India and also bestowed with the Sardar Patel Best Institution Award 2021 by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. The contribution made by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University towards educating more than 6000 students every year in agriculture and allied disciplines, developing 850 varieties and 1500 technologies that facilitated to augment the food grain production by more than 120 lakh tones in the state of Tamil Nadu was widely recognized and acknowledged.
