The chief guest at the function was G Gnanasambandam, a world-renowned Tamil scholar who delivered the keynote address to encourage the first-year students.
Coimbatore: An initiation ceremony was held for the first-year engineering students of Karpagam College of Engineering in Coimbatore on Tuesday.
Dr. R Vasanthakumar, Chairman, Karpagam Educational Institutions presided over the function, and Dr. Vijayakumar, Principal of the college, welcomed everyone.
Dr. G Gnanasambandam, a world-renowned Tamil scholar, was the chief guest at the function and delivered the keynote address. He exhorted the students saying, “Today's students should consider education and discipline as two eyes. Engineers are the ones who are creating this country and our country is a role model for other countries in various fields like mechanics. Not everyone gets all the opportunities, but if we are studying in a big college of this size, it is because of parents, so revere them.â€
“Four years can run like four minutes and therefore you have to study without distractions. Those who invented the greatest inventions were also from ordinary backgrounds, so you too must discover many new inventions,†he added.
Dr Vijayakumar, Head of the Department thanked the gathering to conclude the grand function which was attended by 1200 students.
Dr. Aadhi Pandian, Public Relations Officer of Karpagam Educational Institutions, Heads of Departments, professors, parents of students and others participated in the function.
